BEIJING, June 18 (Xinhua) -- The Chengdu-Chongqing Dual-city Economic Circle Global Investment Promotion Conference was held in Shanghai on Thursday to seek domestic as well as international investment and cooperation by presenting industry advantages in the "dual-city economic circle".

The event, hosted by Sichuan Provincial Government and Chongqing Municipal Government, organized by Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Economic Cooperation and Chongqing Municipal Investment Promotion Bureau, is a first-go of collaborative investment promotion between Sichuan and Chongqing.
Sichuan and Chongqing enjoy resilient economy, convenient transportation and great potential for investment, according to government officials, introducing that the two cities post great opportunities in such six industries as electronic information, food and beverage, medicine and health, automobile, equipment manufacturing and new materials.
The electronic information industry of Sichuan and Chongqing, for example, saw revenue exceed 2.1 trillion yuan in 2020, up 18 percent year on year. As for auto, the two cities currently have 45 automobile manufacturers and boast annual output of 3 million vehicles of which output value exceeds 600 billion yuan.
It is introduced that economic output of the two cities reached 7.36 trillion yuan in 2020, accounting for 34.5 percent of the 12 provinces, autonomous regions and cities in the western China region. Fixed asset investment registered averaged growth of 8.7 percent, 5 percentage points higher than that of the whole country.
The two cities also enjoy great connectivity with the golden waterway of the Yangtze River, China-Europe freight trains, land-sea new passway in western China and more than 230 international routes.
More than 110 well-known enterprises, as well as representatives from business associations and consulates from more than 10 countries such as the United States, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Singapore have participated in the event, and a live-broadcast was also held to reach global audience.
