HANOI, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's fruit export to China enjoyed strong growth in the first five months of this year despite the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Wednesday.
Over the months, Vietnam exported over 468,000 tons of mangoes to China, 12 percent higher than the total volume of 2020; 348,000 tons of bananas, 87 percent of the volume of 2020; and 301,000 tons of jackfruit, 92 percent of the volume of 2020, among others, local media Vietnam News cited the ministry's latest report as saying.
So far, 1,703 planting areas and 1,776 packing facilities in Vietnam that produce fresh fruit and products have been granted codes for exporting to China, according to the report.
In the first five months of 2021, the total export turnover of Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 22.6 billion U.S. dollars, up 30.1 percent year on year. China is currently the biggest market for Vietnam's agricultural products, according to data from the ministry. Enditem
