BEIJING, June 15 (Xinhua) -- China's postal sector registered a robust growth during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Security News reported on Tuesday.
The country's delivery service providers handled overall 1.74 billion parcels during the holiday, according to the State Post Bureau (SPB).
Among them, China's courier sector collected 874 million parcels during the holiday, up 44.29 percent from the same period of last year, while about 870 million parcel were delivered during the period, surging 33.9 percent year on year.
Besides, 380 million parcels were received and delivered in the rural areas during the holiday, up more than 30 percent year on year.
From January to May, the country's postal sector has seen a record amount of express deliveries in the first five months of this year, with the figure close to the total registered number during the whole year of 2017.
