BEIJING, June 7 (Xinhua) -- East China's Zhejiang Province had built 62,600 5G base stations by the end of 2020, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported recently.
According to the report, the province had realized full coverage of 5G signals in urban areas above the county level as well as some key villages and towns.
Gan Meng, an official with the Zhejiang Communications Administration, said that Zhejiang Province has achieved large-scale commercial use of 5G networks and formed a number of pilot demonstration projects in the fields of industry, medical care, education, etc.
Besides, the province has quickened the pace to promote the construction of a national digital economic innovation and development pilot zone.
Data showed that the added value of core industries in the digital economy of Zhejiang amounted to 701.99 billion yuan last year, surging 13 percent year on year.(Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
