BEIJING, May 26 (Xinhua) -- East China's Shandong Province recently held a promotion conference on deepening Shandong-Taiwan cooperation in Jinan, capital of Shandong Province.
Nearly 500 professionals from Chinese Mainland and Taiwan participated the event to discuss further cooperation in high-end intelligent manufacturing, medical and health care, rural revitalization and cultural tourism, aiming to jointly promote the economic integration and development of Shandong and Taiwan.
In recent years, Shandong has been optimizing its business environment, promote economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation between Shandong and Taiwan, and provide all-round, full-cycle and high-quality services for businessmen from Taiwan to invest in Shandong.
In 2020, Shandong Province approved 168 Taiwan-funded projects with actual use of Taiwan's investment exceeding 1 billion US dollars. The trade volume between Shandong and Taiwan stood at 50.96 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 43.2 percent.
As of the end of 2020, Shandong has approved 9,391 Taiwan-funded projects with actual use of Taiwan's investment of 28.82 billion US dollars, according to the data from the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Shandong Province.
Since the first investment of 10 million US dollars in Jiyang District, Jinan in 2002, Want Want Group from Taiwan has made additional investments in Jiyang for 17 consecutive times. By 2020, its total investment reached 220 million US dollars, said Zhao Hongli, manager of the Foundation of Want Want Group.
In 2021, Want Want Group will invest another 100 million yuan in Jiyang to build a new logistics warehouse. After completion, it is expected to increase sales by 250 million yuan and create 300 job opportunities, Zhao added.
