BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhua) -- The 7th Chengdu International Trade Fair for Automotive Parts and Aftermarket Services held recently in Chengdu, capital city of southwest China's Sichuan Province, showed that smart technology has begun to penetrate into the automotive aftermarket, bringing new development opportunities to related industries, reported Economic Information Daily Monday.

It's learned that the event specially showcased smart products and technologies in the auto aftermarket.

At a meeting about the new energy technology talent development in the auto aftermarket during the trade fair, many companies and experts exchanged ideas on the upgrading and transformation of talent training, education services and other aspects that fit smart development of the market.

With the continuous development of new energy and smart technologies in the automotive industry, the automotive aftermarket has also entered into a new stage of development with opportunities, said Yu Guang, deputy general manager of Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., one of the organizers of the event.

The rapid application of smart technologies in the auto manufacturing sector has driven the in-depth development of technologies and products in the automotive aftermarket, as well as the digital and intelligent development of automotive parts and services.

According to data from the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security of China, currently, the number of motor vehicles in China has registered 380 million with 465 million drivers, and the output value of the automotive aftermarket has reached nearly 1.5 trillion yuan.

Experts said that with the rapid implementation of 5G, artificial intelligence, big data and other technologies, the automotive aftermarket has also begun to transform from a product-based industry to a service-oriented industry, and it is urgent to use Internet technology to improve the technical level of the whole industry and customer service experience.

Compared with traditional cars, new energy smart cars have higher demand for electronic components. Meanwhile, against the backdrop of intelligent development, the auto repair services that focus on system maintenance and emerging applications have gradually increased.

Many insiders believe that automobiles in the future will transform to carriers of content and services, and correspondingly, the automotive aftermarket will also usher in smart and network-based development at a faster pace.

China has also sped up the formulation of rules and regulations for the intelligent development of the automotive sector. The Cyberspace Administration of China recently released a draft of regulations on automobile data security management, which aims to standardize the application of related smart technologies.
