BEIJING, May 20 (Xinhua) -- The 2021 Changsha International Construction Equipment Exhibition (2021 CICEE) kicked off on Wednesday at Changsha International Convention and Exhibition Center in Changsha, capital city of central China's Hunan Province.
The 2021 CICEE, slated to last till May 22, is jointly held by China Machinery Industry Federation, China Construction Machinery Society, Industry and Information Technology Department of Hunan Province, Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Hunan Sub-council and Changsha Municipal Government.
Themed on "Intelligent New Generation of Construction Machinery", the 2021 CICEE serves as an international exhibition platform for new technologies, new equipment and new formats of global construction machinery industry.
Covering an exhibition area of 300,000 square meters, this year's exhibition has attracted 1,450 Chinese and foreign exhibitors, including 32 of the top 50 global construction machinery companies, to take part in the four-day event and more than 600 participants including officials from embassies of 20-odd countries in China and business representatives from home and abroad to attend the opening ceremony.
Despite the raging COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, China's construction machinery sector has bucked against the downward trend and became the fastest growing segment in the overall machinery industry. In the first quarter of this year, the domestic construction machinery industry continued maintaining a sound momentum of development, achieving a year-on-year growth of 71.85 percent in revenue and 1.38 times in profit, with emergence of a number of scientific and technological innovation achievements.
After nearly seven decades of development, construction machinery has become a brand industry of Hunan, said Mao Weiming, governor of the province.
With its production of about 70 percent of the total categories of construction machinery products in China and the main business income ranking first nationwide for 11 consecutive years, Hunan has become China's largest base of construction equipment industry.
Meanwhile, the province has been actively participating in infrastructure construction in countries involving in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and the Hunan-made construction equipment products have extended to some 160 countries and regions across the world.
Major construction machinery enterprises from Hunan, such as Sany Group and Zoomlion, are making full efforts to craft intelligent factories. They have executed green, digital and intelligent production and sales in such factories, thus slashing business cycle and ensuring increase in business income, net profit and net profit margin.
Hunan will take advantage of the CICEE to promote the flow of global construction machinery resource elements into China and the going out of China's products to the world so as to boost the integrated development of global construction machinery industry, according to Mao.
