BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) – Northwest China's Shaanxi Province posted a monthly record-high foreign trade at 39.22 billion yuan in April, local customs data showed recently.
In April alone, Shaanxi's imports stood at 20.75 billion yuan, exceeding 20 billion yuan in monthly record for the first time.
During the January-April period, the province realized a total of 137.14 billion yuan of foreign trade volume, up 15.7 percent year on year, of which exports and imports stood at 67.5 billion yuan and 69.56 billion yuan, respectively.
General trade, bonded businesses and processing trade were among Shaanxi's major foreign trade commodities, which contributed 39.06 billion yuan, 19.03 billion yuan, and 66.62 billion yuan respectively to the province's total foreign trade in the first four months of the year.
Meanwhile, the province's exports of mechanical and electric products hit 60.38 billion yuan, up 21.8 percent year on year over the same period of last year, accounting for about 90 percent of Shaanxi's total exports.
Shaanxi's trade with the Belt and Road (B&R) countries posted a year on year increase of 6.6 percent to 21.66 billion yuan in the first four months, while its trade with major trading partners including the Republic of Korea (ROK), the European Union (EU) respectively picked up 5.5 percent and 34.4 percent from a year earlier.
Over the same period, foreign trade volume of Shaanxi's state-owned enterprises stood at 12.18 billion yuan, while its private sector contributed a total of 43.91 billion yuan to Shaanxi's foreign trade.
