BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Xinhua-Fengjie Navel Orange Price Index Report (2020-2021), an annual index performance tracking report, was released Saturday at the 2021 Brand Credit Construction Summit, one of the parallel sessions of the China Brand Day event held in Shanghai.
Dedicated to enhancing "Fengjie navel orange" brand home and abroad, the report was co-compiled by the Information Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Chongqing Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, China Economic Information Service (CEIS) of Xinhua News Agency and the People's Government of Fengjie County.
To better monitor the industry and reflect market dynamics, monthly reports on global sweet orange market review and trending as well as in-depth analysis on domestic navel orange brand communication and industry trend have been also released since the index's first debut in 2019 to help boost high-quality development of China's navel orange industry.
The production of navel orange in China has been rising with the epidemic relatively under control, and the price went down as wholesalers still ordered by demand which is reflected in the downward trend in the 2021 Xinhua-Fengjie Navel Orange Price Index compared with a year earlier, according to the report.
In response, the People's Government of Fengjie County worked to relieve the delivery pressure to secure and boost industry vitality while continuously strengthened brand construction and improved brand influence of Fengjie navel orange.
Data by the General Administration of Customs showed that the domestic import of navel orange decreased during 2020-2021 period, with export to ASEAN countries increased and China's international trade of sweet oranges turned into surplus. As an important export navel orange production base, Fengjie County continues to strengthen the construction of "digital navel orange" and is guiding domestic navel oranges to go abroad.
Fengjie navel orange, a good representative of China's sweet orange industry, should further strengthen quality management and brand building, broaden trade channels, and seize the opportunity to go overseas such as the East Asian, European and American markets, according to Zhang Baohe, an analyst of Xinhua Index department of CEIS.
