BEIJING, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Scientific and technological (sci-tech) innovation has boosted the development of China's sports industry in aspects including the research and development of sports products and the upgrading of the sports consumption pattern, reported Economic Information Daily Thursday.
At an industry awards ceremony held recently in Beijing, the Professional Committee of Smart Sports of the China Communication Industry Association (CCIA) was established as another new attempt to combine science and technology with sports.
The professional committee will focus on promoting full-swing application of information technology in the sports industry by building digital sports, smart venues, smart events, physical education, sports health, social sports information platforms, and intelligent sports infrastructure and equipment in urban areas, so as to realize information interconnection, technology, data and business integration, and management and service collaboration in the sector, said CCIA president Wang Bingke.
With the continuous development of the sports industry, the demand for science and technology in all categories of sports work has also increased.
According to Wang Hongyan, president of a primary school in Ningbo City of east China's Zhejiang Provincefeaturing trampoline sports, his school is mulling to build a digital trampoline gym to further promote the development of trampoline sports on campus.
"We need to be more scientific and precise about how trampolining changes a child's physical fitness. We also need to use data to improve teachers' teaching and make our teaching more scientific and safe," Wang stated.
Bei Yue, deputy director of the technical service business group of Migu, a digital content subsidiary of China Mobile, eyes the combination of 5G technology with sports venues.
"5G plus smart venues will be oriented towards future industrial development, undertake future high-quality events, and become landmarks of the city brand, thus driving the surrounding economy and providing high-quality content services to the audience. The new development pattern is driving the entire sports industry to innovate continuously, and the new 5G infrastructure is also empowering thousands of industries at a faster speed,"said Bei.
For retired swimmer Su Bo, the combination of sports and technology represents an entrepreneurial opportunity.
At the beginning of 2021, Beijing Vchine Sports Co., Ltd., a company founded by him, invested 60 million yuan to wholly acquire two sports service firms and develop the "Vchine Cloud" service platform, providing five types of professional services targeting sports events including online registration, intelligent scheduling, electric timing, result processing and data analysis.
"Take swimming as an example. In the past, it would take several judges and three to four days to complete the scheduling process. Now we can do it in five to ten minutes with one click from the internet, which saves a lot of labor and time costs," Su said.
In his vision, based on"Vchine Cloud", his company will explore to enter the swimming field via internet technology, and open the professional event platform and operation and maintenance system to the swimming industry by relying on its own advantages of data community and data science tools, so as to create a swimming event platform, an intelligent training platform, an intelligent venue platform and related swimming industry chainwith standardized, innovative, digital and international features.
