BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhua) -- The China-Europe freight trains departing from Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, have made 1,000 trips so far this year, cctv.com reported recently.
On April 13, a China-Europe freight train loaded with bikes, toys, dishwashers and other goods, departed from Xi'an to Kazakhstan, marking the 1,000th trip made by such trains running between the city and other European and Asian cities this year.
As of April 12, Xi'an had handled 41,286 cargo containers via the China-Europe freight train service, an increase of 26.76 percent from the same period of last year.
Since the launch of the China-Europe freight train service in the city on Nov. 28, 2013, the trains have seen rising trips year by year, with 15 trunk routes extending to Central Asia and Central Europe.
Last year, the Chang'an China-Europe freight train service operated 3,720 train trips, 1.7 times that of the previous year, with a total of 1,311 inbound trips for Xi'an. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
