BEIJING, April 2(Xinhua) -- East China's Jiangxi province is planning to invest 70 billion yuan in water transportation projects during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), reported Jiangxi Daily.
By 2025, the mileage of high-grade inland waterways in Jiangxi Province is expected to exceed 1,200 kilometers, forming a high-grade waterway network. The province will speed up the construction of a high-grade inland waterway system that connects rivers and seas, so as to build a modern port system.
It is learned that during the 13th Five-Year Plan period(2016-2020), the province completed 18.6 billion yuan of investment in water transport, 6.2 times that of the 12th Five-Year Plan period(2011-2015), and significant progress has been made in the construction of water transport infrastructure.
During 2021-2025, Jiangxi Province's total shipping capacity is likely to reach 4 million tonnes with transportation structure further optimized, and the proportion of waterway freight volume will surpass 10 percent.
