BELGRADE, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday spoke highly of the construction of the Preljina-Pozega section of the E-763 highway by a Chinese company during an inspection tour of the project.
Vucic inspected the construction works near the city of Cacak, at the tunnel Laz which stretches through the Jelica Mountain, together with the Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo and Serbia's Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic.
After talking to representatives of the China Communications Construction Company, which is in charge of the construction works both in Serbia and Montenegro, Vucic said that the Preljina-Pozega section will be finished in "January or February next year."
"I hope that in a year we will have a highway here, and that it will open the gates of Western Serbia," Vucic said.
Vucic said that the new highway, once completed, will enable people to travel from the capital of Belgrade to the Montenegrin border in just two hours and 15 minutes.
The Serbian part of the Belgrade-South Adriatic highway will stretch across 270 kilometers, where it will connect to the 180-km Bar-Boljare highway in Montenegro. Enditem
