MACAO, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Macao's total merchandise import surged by 102.8 percent year on year to 7.76 billion patacas in February 2021, the special administrative region (SAR)'s statistical service said.
The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) showed that the imports of gold jewelry, mobile phones and handbags and wallets swelled by 640.5 percent, 528.8 percent and 417.7 percent, respectively, but those of other textile made-up articles and articles for casino declined by 70.6 percent and 45.8 percent, respectively.
Analyzed by place of origin, imports from the mainland and from the European Union (EU) in the first two months of 2021 increased by 62.2 percent and by 59.9 percent year on year to 6.52 billion patacas and 5.89 billion patacas, respectively. (1 pataca equals 0.1249 U.S. dollar) Enditem
