BEIJING, March 17 (Xinhua) -- East China's Shandong saw its first offshore wind power demonstration project start construction in Haiyang city recently, reported Dazhong daily citing relevant person in charge of the Energy Administration of Shandong Province.
The project is located in the sea area to the south of Haiyang City. With a total investment of about 5.6 billion yuan, it is designed with an installed capacity of 300 MW and 58 unit of 5.2 MW offshore wind turbines will be constructed.
The project is expected to enter operation at the end of 2021.
After completion, the annual power output of the project is estimated at 800 million kilowatt-hours, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 6.76 million tonnes.
