China construction giant saw contracted sales soar in first two months

BEIJING, March 14 (Xinhua) -- China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited, the country's major construction giant, reported robust growth in newly contracted sales in the first two months of the year.

Newly contracted sales totaled 470.2 billion yuan (about 72.5 billion U.S. dollars) in the period, up 43.4 percent year on year, the company said in a statement filed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

In breakdown, the company's housing construction sales reached 331.1 billion yuan, up 29.7 percent year on year, while that of infrastructure construction surged 129.5 percent over one year earlier to 85 billion yuan.

During the Jan.-Feb. period, the company's real estate sales also jumped, with the contracted sales registering a 54.1-percent yearly growth to 52.4 billion yuan. Enditem
