BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhua) – China Unicom, one of China's telecom giants reported yesterday that its net profits attributed to the parent company edged up 10.8 percent to 5.5 billion yuan, reported the Xinhua-run cnstock.cn Thursday.
According to the company's annual reported released Thursday, its revenue increased 4.6 percent year on year to 303.84 billion yuan, and its 5G subscribers totaled 7.083 million in 2020, with the coverage rate of 5G service users reaching 23 percent, higher than the industry average of 20 percent.
Of total revenue, the reported said, revenue from the main businesses reached 156.7 billion yuan, while its total mobilephone Internet traffic increased 16.5 percent from 2020.
The number of fixed-line broadband subscribers increased 262 in 2020, while the sector registered 42.6 billion of total revenue, an increase of 2.4 percent year on year.
Revenue from industrial internet hit 42.7 billion yuan in 2020, up 30 percent from the previous year, accounting for 15.5 percent of its major businesses.
Meanwhile, the company's ICT business, namely information and communications technology registered 13.4 billion yuan of revenue, up 33.4 percent year on year.
In 2020, China Unicom and China Telecom have jointly built the world's first and largest 5G co-construction and sharing network, with the number of 5G base stations totaling 380,000.
China Unicom reveals that it would commit to accelerating the comprehensive digitalization in 2021.
