BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) -- China is speeding up formulating drawings on the development of green industries, reported Economic Information Daily Tuesday.

The Central Economic Work Conference held in December 2020 listed "pursing peaking carbon emissions and carbon neutrality" as one of the key tasks in 2021, and one of the important paths to the goal is vigorously developing green industries.

Against this backdrop, many central authorities issued plans to boost the development of green industries.

The State Council, China's cabinet, released a guideline proposing to significantly increase the proportion of green industries by 2025, and meanwhile build a batch of national green industry demonstration bases and a number of large green industry groups.

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's top economic planner, recently unveiled the list of green industry demonstration bases, and put forward to actively cultivate leading enterprises in green industries and enhance the competitiveness of green industries.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) stressed to implement low-carbon industrial initiatives and green manufacturing projects, and formulate action plans and road maps to reach peaking carbon emissions in key industries such as steel and cement.

Many regions in China are also accelerating the construction of green manufacturing systems and planning to deploy a number of green factories and green parks.

Southwest China's Sichuan Province recently issued a three-year (2021-2023) action plan on developing key characteristic parks, clarifying to build a green manufacturing system covering the entire industry chain and the product life cycle.

Northeast China's Jilin Province proposed to strengthen the green transformation of key industries and important fields, and build green energy and green manufacturing systems, as well as green factories and green industrial parks.

On March 7, an intelligent technology demonstration industrial park project started construction in Jinan, capital city of east China's Shandong Province, covering an area of 172 mu (about 114,667 square meters) with a total investment of one billion yuan.

On February 26, a low-carbon ecological industrial park project initiated construction in Jianye District of Nanjing, capital city of east China's Jiangsu Province, with a total investment of 870 million yuan. The park will focus on developing zero-carbon technology and gathering environmental protection enterprises.

A number of 100-billion-yuan or one-trillion-yuan green industry clusters will also rise at a faster speed.

South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region recently released a three-year (2021-2023) action plan on promoting industrial revitalization, putting forward to build a trillion-yuan industrial cluster of green new materials by 2023.

Jiuquan City of northwest China's Gansu Province plans to build a clean energy industry chain of 100 billion yuan during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

Ningbo City of east China's Zhejiang Province will invest nearly 400 billion yuan to build a batch of major new chemical materials projects, and strive to achieve a green petrochemical industry output value of more than one trillion yuan, becoming a world-class green petrochemical industry cluster.

Catalyzed by favorable policies, green and low-carbon industries will usher in a new round of development space.

According to data from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), in 2030, the output value of China's low-carbon industries is expected to reach 23 trillion yuan, contributing more than 16 percent to the gross domestic product (GDP).

Financial resources such as credit, insurance and trust will further tilt towards green industries, and insiders estimate that China's green finance business may reach 16 trillion yuan in 2021.
