BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province plans to build 18,000 5G base stations in 2021 to further promote the application of 5G technology and accelerate the development of the digital economy, the Xinhua-run Economic Information Daily reported recently.
According to the report, the province has put a total of 18,900 5G base stations into operation last year.
In recent years, Heilongjiang has focused on cultivating new industries, new business forms, and new models of the digital economy.
In 2021, the province will advance the development of the big data industry and push forward the construction of a national big data center in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang.
An official with local authorities noted that Heilongjiang was expected to build the government affairs information sharing and exchange system and the unified government affairs data sharing system across the province by the end of this year.
