BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhua) -- China's southernmost province of Hainan witnessed signing of the first batch of 34 key projects in 2021 on February 27, which will facilitate the construction of Hainan free trade port.
Consisting of 6 foreign investment projects and 28 domestic investment projects, these projects involve a total investment of nearly 13.8 billion yuan.
After the signing this time, key foreign enterprises such as Schneider Electric (China), CDP Group (Hong Kong) Limited and Jiacheng International Logistics Co., Ltd. have successfully settled in the free trade port.
China Post Group Corporation Limited (China Post) signed strategic cooperation agreement with Hainan provincial government. The group expects to take advantages of Hainan's supportive policies such as tax exemption for imported aircraft and jet fuel to open cargo flight lines from Hainan to major cities in the Chinese mainland and international flights to Southeast Asia, helping Hainan create a new highland for opening-up.
In 2020, driven by the construction of the free trade port, Hainan has achieved outstanding performance in economic and social development. Four major indicators including new market entities, actual use of foreign capital, number of talents introduced, and offshore duty-free sales have doubled.
Hainan will also hold 5 batches of key projects signing activities this year to further promote the stability and improvement of the province's economic development and the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure, laying a solid foundation for the early harvest of the Hainan free trade port.
