BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Construction on 222 major projects with a total investment of 264.5 billion yuan kicked off Wednesday in south China's city of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province.
It is the first batch of projects launched in the city in 2021, with the annual investment expected to reach 55.8 billion yuan.
Among them, there are 60 infrastructure projects, 44 social and people's livelihood projects, 42 industrial projects. In particular, they include 15 large projects, each with a total investment of more than 5 billion yuan.
Based on the source of funds, there are 125 government-invested projects, with a total investment of 36.72 billion yuan. They involve an annual investment of 8.96 billion yuan, accounting for 16.1 percent of the total annual investment. The rest belongs to social-invested projects, with a total investment of about 227.73 billion yuan. They involve an annual investment of about 46.83 billion yuan, accounting for 83.9 percent of the total annual investment.
Guo Ziping, director of the Development and Reform Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, introduced that the city launched 684 projects in three groups in 2020, with a total investment of 829.4 billion yuan and annual investment of 128.3 billion yuan.
Thanks to the investment, Shenzhen's fixed asset investment has risen 8.2 percent year on year to 795.7 billion yuan last year, with the growth rate much higher than the national and provincial average levels. (Edited by Zhang Yuan with Xinhua Silk Road, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
