BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has recently announced that more efforts will be made to speed up 5G coverage of all urban areas and extend 5G network to counties and towns, reported Economic Information Daily on Thursday.
The Ministry said that more 5G base stations will be constructed to ensure people living in rural area to have access to 5G network. Operators are also encouraged to improve quality of 5G services by rolling out more affordable 5G data plans and enabling users to check 5G coverage on mobile app.
Thanks to better infrastructure, digital technology has changed people's life, urban and rural alike. It is digital technology that made life easier amid a stay-put Spring Festival affected by the pandemic.
Growing demand from lower-tier city users are among several consumption trends in China. Data from Pinduoduo, a discount e-commerce platform, showed that orders sent to third-tier and lower-tier cities have surged by 114 percent year on year since March 2020.
