MACAO, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Restaurants and retail businesses in Macao showed mixed performances in December 2020, the special administrative region's statistics service said on Monday.
The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 27 percent of the interviewed restaurants recording a year-on-year rise in revenue or steady performance in December, a decrease of around one percentage point from November.
On the other hand, 73 percent of the interviewed restaurants recorded a year-on-year decline in revenue in December, an increase of one percentage point from November.
As for retail trade, 31 percent of the interviewed retailers registered a year-on-year sales rise or steady performance in December, up by four percentage points from the preceding month.
On the other hand, the proportion of interviewed retailers reporting a year-on-year sales decrease dropped by four percentage points from November to 69 percent.
There were 21 percent of the interviewed restaurants and similar establishments expecting their revenue to increase year on year or remain stable in January 2021, a growth of one percentage point from December 2020.
Moreover, 41 percent of the interviewed retailers anticipated a year-on-year sales rise or steady performance in January 2021, up by 12 percentage points from December. Enditem
