BEIJING, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- South China's Hainan Province plans to complete the construction of 35,000 affordable houses, accelerate renovation of shanty towns and old urban residential areas, and improve people's living condition in 2021, reported the Hainan Daily last Saturday.
Hainan Province will focus on construction of affordable rental houses to improve housing guarantee system, and unveil relevant administrative measures and implementation rules on affordable commercial housing this year.
In addition, cities and counties in Hainan are expected to complete the renovation of 3,045 apartments in shanty towns, start construction of 243 units of public rental housing and offer rental subsidies to 8,204 households this year.
In 2021, Hainan Province will make every effort to promote urban renewal and improve the quality of urban development. The Hainan Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development will formulate guidelines to promote urban renewal, with over 400 old urban residential areas to be renovated.
