The widespread use of drones in Germany is to become easier, faster, and safer. That is the aim of a draft law approved by the German cabinet on Wednesday. It involves the implementation of EU regulations.
"Drones transport medicines, supplies, and parcels quickly and efficiently over long distances," explained German Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer. They supply rural and hard-to-reach areas, and support emergency responders, disaster control, and agriculture, he said. The bill was intended to enable innovation and new areas of business. At the same time, there should be a high level of safety for people, airspace, and nature.
In concrete terms, for example, the approach and departure areas of airfields are to be given greater protection in the future with new distance rules. According to the ministry, the legislative changes are to be passed before the end of this legislative period.
