BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province saw its online retail sales value up 12.7 percent year on year to 52.63 billion yuan in 2020, according to data released by Heilongjiang's provincial department of commerce recently.
In the past year, e-commerce became an important force for the rural areas in Heilongjiang to fight against poverty. With the help of live streaming e-commerce platforms, many migrant workers were able to start their own business in their hometown and promote sales of products online. This gave a boost to the modernization of rural areas.
Data showed that in 2020, Heilongjiang's rural e-commerce transaction value continued increasing, with online retail sales in those areas hitting 15.79 billion yuan, up 22.7 percent year on year.
Heilongjiang is vigorously propelling live streaming e-commerce. By setting up live streaming e-commerce sharing bases, building an open ecology and training online influencers for product promotion, the province aims to expand the marketing channels of characteristic agricultural products, said an official with provincial department of commerce.
