BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Steel demand in China is expected to maintain a small increase in 2021, estimated by China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) at a press conference on Wednesday.
The CISA expected the decline in the country's steel product exports and the increase in imports to continue this year.
The country's apparent crude steel consumption in 2020 is estimated to increase 9 percent year on year, and actual steel consumption is expected to increase 7 percent year on year. In breakdown, the steel consumption in the domestic construction and manufacturing industries is projected to increase 10 percent and 4 percent, respectively, according to the CISA.
At the end of December 2020, the asset-liability ratio of key steel mills monitored by the CISA was 62.27 percent, a year-on-year decrease of 0.18 percentage points. (Edited by Hu Pingchao with Xinhua Silk Road, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
