Specifically, about 80.8 billion yuan will be invested in the province's transportation this year.
During the period from 2016 to 2020, Hunan completed investment of 349.2 billion yuan in transportation, and its total road mileage reached 241,000 kilometers. The province built 1,298 kilometers of expressways, adding a total mileage to nearly 7,000 kilometers open to traffic, said Zhao Ping, head of Department of Transportation of Hunan Province.
The province built 105,000 kilometers of roads in rural areas, and added 509 kilometers of 1,000-tonne and above waterways and 31 berths. All the province's township-level administrations and incorporated villages where conditions permit have had access to passenger buses, Zhao added.
