BEIJING, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Multiple provinces in China have recently held conferences on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and made plans to speed up the modernization of the TCM industry, reported Economic Information Daily Wednesday.
East China's Anhui Province on January 4 proposed to forge a modern TCM industry highland and a TCM research highland, promote the integrated development of TCM with internet, tourism, fitness and food, and nurture a batch of local large TCM enterprises as well as a number of TCM varieties each with output value exceeding 100 million yuan.
East China's Zhejiang Province on December 31 of 2020 put forward to vigorously advance high-quality development of TCM, build the province into a TCM powerhouse with international influence, develop genuine medicinal materials and TCM industrial clusters, and construct a "TCM plus" integrated development pattern.
Central China's Hunan Province on December 30 of 2020 proposed to develop TCM industry through opening-up and cooperation, and promote the development of advantageous producing areas of genuine medicinal materials, the building of featured TCM towns, the development and industrialization of classic TCM prescriptions as well as the integration of TCM with health and wellness, leisure, catering and other industries.
The TCM industrial chain involves medical products, health supplies, nutritious food, medical equipment, health equipment, leisure and fitness, health management, health consultation and many other production and service areas closely related to human health, said Zhu Aisong, director with Zhejiang Engineering Research Center for TCM Prevention of Diseases and Smart Health and a professor of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University.
Therefore, Zhang noted, the sustainable development of the TCM industrial chain has contributed greatly to the national economy, and it is a "green GDP" of great value.
It's learned that with the advancement of the development of the TCM industry in various regions, related personnel training has also ushered in unprecedented development opportunities, helping improve community-level medical services.
