BEIJING, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Beijing saw the output value of animation and game industries amount to 106.3 billion yuan in 2020, up 32 percent from the 80.6 billion yuan registered in 2019 and accounting for nearly 19.3 percent of the country's total, according to Beijing Animation&Game Industry Alliance.
Among them, the output value of Beijing's animation industry reached 16.87 billion yuan, while that of the game industry stood at 89.43 billion yuan.
Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Chinese residents'demand for digital entertainment consumption picked up steam, which became the main reason for the robust growth of Beijing's animation and game industry in 2020, the alliance said.
In 2020, the actual sales revenue of Beijing's mobile game market hit 89.43 billion yuan, an increase of 17.86 billion yuan from a year earlier.
The number of mobile game users in Beijing reached 5.08 million last year, an increase of 166,000 over 2019.
It is known that actively exploring overseas markets has always been the advantage and characteristic of Beijing's game industry.
The alliance noted that online game products independently developed by Beijing enterprises have reached more than 100 countries and regions worldwide, occupying an important position in the global game market.
