BEIJING, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Wednesday unveiled an action plan for the innovative development of industrial internet from 2021 to 2023, aiming to speed up the construction of new type of industrial internet infrastructure and advance the integrated development of industrialization and informatization at a larger scale and higher level.
By 2023, China will initially build an industrial internet network infrastructure covering various regions and industries, establish 30 5G-connected factories in 10 key industries, set up three to five comprehensive industrial internet platforms with international influence, and basically build a big data center system for national industrial internet, according to the action plan.
During the 2021-2023 period, the country will promote new modes and formats of industrial internet, such as intelligent manufacturing, network-based collaboration, personalized customization, and digital management.
In terms of industrial ecology, China will cultivate more than 40 innovative enterprises with main business revenue exceeding one billion yuan, and build five state-level demonstration bases for the industrial internet industry by 2023.
China's industrial internet sector has been developing rapidly in recent years. According to data from the MIIT, more than 70 industrial internet platforms have been set up across the country, connecting with about 40 million units of industrial facilities and gaining strong industry and regional influence.
The scale of China's industrial internet market is projected to reach 892.47 billion yuan in 2022, with an average annual compound growth rate of 13.6 percent, according to a research report released by CCID Consulting affiliated to a think tank under the MIIT, in June of 2020.
