BEIJING, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- China saw the retail sales of passenger vehicles register a 6.6-percent year-on-year growth to 2.29 million units in December last year, Shanghai Securities News reported on Monday.
Last year, the total retail sales of passenger vehicles amounted to 19.29 million units, down 6.8 percent year on year, data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed Monday.
Besides, it is worth noting that China's new energy passenger car sales saw strong growth in December last year.
The country's wholesale and retail sales of new energy passenger cars last month reached 210,000 and 206,000 units respectively, up 53.6 percent and 58.1 percent year on year.
In 2020, the wholesale of China's new energy passenger vehicles surged 12 percent year on year to 1.17 million units, while the retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles stood at 1.11 million units, an increase of 9.8 percent from the same period of last year.
