BEIJING, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) – China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (CHINA RAILWAY), China's railway operator unveiled its 2021 annual development plan on Monday, reported the Economic Information Daily Tuesday.
Lu Dongfu, head of the China State Railway Group revealed that in 2021, the group will build an information platform for passenger intermodal transport and establish a unified tourism product design and sales platform, to boost integration between railway transport and tourism industry further.
Meanwhile, priorities will be given to expansion of the operation coverage of the Fuxing bullet trains and introduction of the Fuxing electric dual-source EMU into Tibet when the Lalin railway route is launched, according to the railway operator.
In 2021, China State Railway Group will improve the technological application on railway construction, tackle key problems in the application of 5G and big data technologies, and steadily promote the development of artificial intelligent (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT).
It is noted that in 2020, China's railway sector has completed investment in fixed assets of 781.9 billion, with total operating income amounted to 1.13 trillion yuan. It handled 2.16 billion passenger trips in 2020, and the figure is expected to rise 43.7 percent on year to hit 3.12 billion in 2021.
Railway freight transport also performed well in 2020, with 12,400 China-Europe trains and 1.135 million TEUs of cargoes delivered throughout the year, an increase of 50 percent and 56 percent year on year, respectively.
