BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- China will further facilitate development of the digital economy and promote the construction and application of 5G networks in an orderly manner in 2021, according to a two-day meeting on the industry and informatization in Beijing, cited by the Economic Information Daily on Wednesday.
The country will compile and implement an action plan for building a network power to coordinate development of the technology industry, infrastructure, industrial applications, network security and governance, and strive to promote network optimization and upgrade, and strengthen oversight over the information and communication industry.
Meanwhile, it will also accelerate development of the advanced manufacturing industry and increase the concentration of the new energy vehicle (NEV) industry next year.
It is noted that much progress has been made in the country's industrial and informatization development over the past years.
From 2016 to 2019, the added value of the country's manufacturing industry saw an annual growth rate of 8.7 percent, from 20.95 trillion yuan to 26.92 trillion yuan, accounting for 28.1 percent of the global share. Scale of the country's digital economy increased by 16.6 percent annually, from 22.6 trillion yuan to 35.8 trillion yuan, accounting for 36.2 percent of its GDP, according to the meeting.
