BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's three telecom giants, namely China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom, should strive to accelerate the development of 5G and strengthen the research and development of key technologies, said Liu Liehong, vice-minister of Industry and Information Technology, according to a circular posted on the ministry's website on Monday.
The three telecom giants should try to build 5G networks with high-quality, speed up the development of industrial Internet, deepen the integration of cloud and networks, improve the support capacity of basic networks, and strengthen the security of key information infrastructure, according to Liu.
Liu noted that great breakthroughs should be made in chips, terminal modules, edge computing and network slicing. Researches on 6G vision and demands should also be promoted.
Meanwhile, efforts should be made to promote new 5G applications and products, create more typical application scenarios, and achieve innovative development of "5G plus industrial Internet," said Liu.
Liu called for the three telecom giants to make all-around efforts to solve the problems of spam messaging and telecom fraud.
In addition, Liu said that it is necessary to establish a market-oriented talent mechanism, strengthen the training of professionals, and further improve the assessment and incentive system in a bid to fully stimulate the vitality of enterprises.
