BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Culture, Tourism, Health and Wellness Industries Empower Beautiful Countryside Forum was held Wednesday in Longnan, a prefecture-level city of northwest China's Gansu Province.
As a sub-forum of the 2020 "Belt and Road" Beautiful Countryside Forum kicked off Tuesday in the same city, the forum is themed on "expanding rural functions and promoting culture and tourism integration", and has attracted insiders to exchange ideas on the integration of agriculture, culture and tourism, production, processing and sales, as well as production parks, villages and cities, etc.
The 14th Five-Year Plan period is a crucial period for comprehensively promoting the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, said Du Zhixiong, party chief with the Rural Development Institute of the China Academy of Social Sciences.
Emphasis should be put on the well implementation of rural construction actions and the consolidation and expansion of the effective connection between the achievements of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, Du added.
Full improvement will become the main theme of rural tourism development, and the status of the industry will be more important during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, said Gao Shunli, former editor-in-chief and president of China Tourism News under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Gao noted that in developing rural tourism, the exemplary role of advanced cases should be highlighted, with focus putting on transformation and upgrading, quality and efficiency improvement, and proper handling of the relationship between developers and indigenous people.
To develop high-quality rural tourism in the new era, efforts should be made in targeted measure taking, culture and tourism integration, rural governance, smart tourism, fine management and talent introduction, said Cai Hong, director with the Tourism Research Center of Capital University of Economics and Business.
In the longevity era, the health and wellness market boasts huge potential as the traditional pension model is unsustainable with the sharp increase of health-related spending, pointed out Wang Shuren, head of the Gansu branch of Taikang Pension headquartered in Beijing.
At the forum, a report on international experience and Chinese explorations in the building of beautiful countrysides was jointly released by the Research Center for Rural Economy of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Gansu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and China Economic Information Service.
The report concludes the experience and practices of Japan, the Republic of Korea and Germany as well as representative regions in China in building beautiful countrysides, and offers suggestions on joint building of beautiful countrysides with Belt and Road countries.
