BEIJING, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- China's online service level has risen to the ninth place in the world. In the future, China will continue to promote the construction of digital government and introduce more supportive measures to further advance the modernization of China's system and capacity for governance, according to the 15th China E-governance Forum held on Sunday, reported by Economic Information Daily Monday.
In the next step, China will introduce more supporting policies to promote the construction of digital government, including accelerating the establishment of data resources, basic systems and standards, and promoting the orderly opening of public data.
After more than 20 years of development, China's e-government construction has become an important measure to advance the modernization of China's system and capacity for governance, said He Yiting, deputy head of the National Academy of Governance.
China needs to strengthen the informationization of government affairs and infrastructure construction of local government departments, enhance the digital application capabilities of urban and rural residents, and find the application of new technologies, promoting international cooperation on integrated application experience including big data, cloud computing, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence, according to Liu Zhenmin, under-secretary-general of the United Nations (UN).
In the future, China is expected to accelerate the construction of digital government and the digital villages, realizing the effective coverage of optical fiber, broadband and 5G networks in rural areas and improving the digital level of education, medical care, culture, and elderly care, according to Zhuang Rongwen, deputy head of Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Cyberspace Administration of China.
In addition, it is necessary to improve network security mechanisms, promote the development of e-government security, and improve classified data security protection systems, Zhuang added.
