BEIJING, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- China's photovoltaic (PV) industry is expected to embrace faster growth, with the country's average annual growth of installed power capacity expected to hit 70 gigawatt (GW) during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).
The forecast was outlined by Wang Bohua, secretary-general of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association at a photovoltaic conference held Thursday in Yiwu, a city in east China's Zhejiang Province.
He expected that total PV installations will reach 240 GW by the end of this year, 5.6 times what it was five years ago. This year will witness 40 GW of added capacity, an increase of 32.9 percent.
Exports of PV products have remained strong momentum. The total volume in the recent five years from 2016 to 2020 is expected to surpass 80 billion U.S. dollars.
To honor China's carbon neutrality commitment, the industry will see added installed PV capacity hit 70 GW every year, totaling 350 GW in the next five years, said Wang.
