BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The digital currency research institute of the People's Bank of China, the country's central bank, inked a strategic partnership with Chinaums, a subsidiary of China UnionPay on Monday, to jointly explore and expand the product functions and application scopes of digital renminbi (RMB).
According to the agreement, in the digital RMB pilot test, the two sides will jointly make a research on the innovative application of online and offline payment scenarios, and promote the construction of digital RMB ecosystem by combining the current business scenarios of Chinaums.
