BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The 2021 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), China's top-level AI event , is scheduled to commence in early July of 2021 in east China's Shanghai, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities Journal reported on Monday.
It is learned that the 2021 WAIC will continue to adopt a hybrid model where offline exhibitions and online displays will take place simultaneously to showcase the latest artificial intelligence (AI) applications and frontier development.
Chen Mingbo, deputy secretary-general of the Shanghai municipal government, explained the positive impact and significance of the successful hosting of the 2020 WAIC this year and put forward work requirements for the next year's WAIC at the preparatory meeting of the 2021 WAIC held on Wednesday in Shanghai.
China hosted the first WAIC in Shanghai in 2018, and has since developed it into an influential platform for AI cooperation and exchange, as well as a catalyst to the city's AI industry.(Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
