China to promote high-quality development of digital culture sector

Abstract : China will promote high-quality development of digital culture sector, according to a guideline recently released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- China will promote high-quality development of digital culture sector, according to a guideline recently released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

By 2025, China will cultivate 20 sector-leading enterprises with social and economic benefits, strong innovation capability and international influence, build five influential industrial clusters leading digital culture development, and implement 200 pioneering digital culture projects, as the document told.

The guideline called for accelerating construction of new infrastructure such as data centers, cloud platforms, standalone Apps, and mini programs to advance the development of digital culture industry.

Application of 5G, big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, Internet of things, and blockchain technologies in the field of cultural industry will be supported.

The guideline vowed supports for platform economy. Specifically, China will further boost the integration of internet plus culture and foster vertical e-commerce supply chain platforms in the cultural sector, while encourage new models of cultural offerings such as live streaming, audio products and geographic information.

According to the guideline, financial institutions will be encouraged to develop financial products specific for digital culture sector. Meanwhile, private capital will be introduced to participate in digital culture projects in the way of Public-Private-Partnership (PPP).

The guideline also highlighted deepening international cooperation, like creating new formats and models for the exports of digital cultural services, building platforms for exchange and cooperation with countries and regions involving in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and jointly developing digital cultural products with the participants of BRI.
