BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- China has 1,100-odd 5G + industrial internet projects under construction, with the technologies being applied to areas such as machine vision inspection, precise remote control, on-site assembly, intelligent logistics, unmanned patrol inspection and security, Xiao Yaqing, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, said on last Friday at the opening ceremony of China 5G + Industrial Internet Conference.
Leading enterprises are actively promoting the integration and innovative development of 5G and industrial internet, extending the technologies' application scope to core links of production and manufacturing and to cover more and more sectors, Xiao added.
China has issued a host of policies to shore up the development of 5G and industrial internet. For example, in November last year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released a plan for promoting projects empowered by 5G and industrial internet, proposing to build five industrial public service platforms to enhance innovation and public service capabilities, accelerate application of 5G and industrial internet in vertical industries, and build a batch of 5G plus industrial internet benchmark projects under at least 20 typical application scenarios by 2022.
The minister said that efforts will be made to advance projects of industrial internet innovation and development, and press ahead the construction of industrial internet demonstration bases. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, email@example.com)
