BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- China is accelerating layouts in cutting-edge and disruptive technologies with the aim to boost economic and social development and improve national competitiveness, reported Economic Information Daily Monday.
China is exploring to establish new mechanism in major scientific research projects, selecting leading enterprises in related industries as the main players in technological innovation, and the country also quickens explorations in setting up a funding mechanism for disruptive technology discovery, said an insider.
According to him, China has carried out pilot projects on disruptive technologies in key special projects related to existing key research and development plans, and launched ten pilot projects in the fields of electronic information and biotechnology.
Actually, China has laid out a number of cutting-edge technologies facing the frontiers of world science and technology, major national needs, and the main battlefield of the national economy.
Currently, China has achieved remarkable results in iron-based superconducting materials, neutrino oscillations, quantum anomalous Hall effect, stem cells, quantum science and other fields, and is in the rising phase from a quantitative increase to a qualitative transition.
At the local level, the Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Science Park issued China's first guideline to support disruptive technological innovation as early as 2018.
According to the guideline, for disruptive technology projects that have made major breakthroughs in the implementation process and entered the stage of achievement transformation or industrialization, up to 30 million yuan of financial support will be granted every year, and the accumulative financial support can reach 100 million yuan to the maximum.
Pudong of Shanghai will focus on developing innovative industries in key fields, forge world-class industrial clusters in integrated circuits, biomedicine, artificial intelligence and other fields at a faster speed, and develop a batch of core components, high-end products and Chinese standards by strengthening coordination with industrial clusters in the Yangtze River Delta region, and actively participate in and carry out global collaborative technological innovation.
