BEIJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) – The rail-ocean intermodal trains have run more than 1,000 trips so far this year from Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, and are expected to make 1,200 trips for the whole year of 2020, according to the local customs.

A rail-ocean intermodal train loaded with chemical raw material, machinery products, electronics and auto parts departed Chongqing on November 6, heading for south China's Guangxi, marking the 1,000th freight train trips of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor from Chongqing this year.

As part of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor jointly built by western Chinese provincial regions and Singapore, the land-sea freight routes have enhanced connectivity between western China, Southeast Asia, and the rest of the world.

To promote the construction of the corridor further, Chongqing has built a convenient transportation hub system linking the central Chongqing and its surrounding cities.

From January to October this year, a total of 1,376 TEUs goods were transshipped via the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and the Chongqing-Singapore-Europe freight train route, realizing the seamless connection of the two major logistic channels, according to the local logistic institution.

Meanwhile, with the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, the land-sea cargo train has transported 3,879 TEUs of goods within Sichuan Province, accounting for 16.03 percent of the total transport volume of the corridor.
