BEIJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Construction on 162 projects with a total investment of 55.18 billion yuan (about 8.33 billion U.S. dollars) kicked off on Friday in south China's Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP).
It is the fourth batch of projects launched in Hainan for the FTP construction.
The projects cover areas such as industrial development, infrastructure upgrading, and public services for the people's livelihood.
In terms of investment scale, there are three projects each with a total investment of more than 3 billion yuan; 13 projects each with a total investment of 1 billion to 3 billion yuan; and 53 projects each with a total investment of 100 million to 1 billion yuan.
The projects launched in Sanya and Haikou saw a total investment of 29.8 billion yuan, accounting for more than 50 percent of the total investment in this batch.
On June 1, China released a master plan for the Hainan FTP, aiming to build the whole Hainan Island into a globally influential high-level free trade port by the middle of the century. (Edited by Hu Pingchao with Xinhua Silk Road, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
