SHANGHAI, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- The China International Import Expo (CIIE) is a cross-industry platform that provides business opportunities in many fields, said Liu Xiaobing, deputy general manager of Nachi-Fujikoshi (China) Co., Ltd.
"We could consult and communicate with people from many other fields, which gives us a lot of insightful inspirations to explore new areas," said Liu.
Nachi, which has participated in the CIIE for the third time, is known for its industrial robots, machining tools and systems and machine components, according to Liu.
The CIIE has helped the 92-year-old Japanese company sell some 10 systems to a medical equipment company from Jiangsu, Liu said, adding that "we expect to sell thousands of robots to them."
"Even though we've got such a comprehensive line of products, we really had a difficult time at the beginning of this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic," said Liu.
"However, we saw miracles in the Chinese market. Sales here began recovering in March, continued climbing in April, and even reached a new high in May. This kind of miracles can only happen in China," Liu said.
Surpassing North America, China has become Nachi's largest market in recent years, making up over 50 percent of its sales in Asia. However, the company is also faced with challenges from new industry trends such as the rise of new energy vehicles.
"Many of our cutting tools and bearings are designed for the traditional automobile industry. Once electric vehicles get popular, some of our products will have no market," noted Liu.
The CIIE offers an opportunity for Nachi to grasp future trends, which will help the company adjust to market changes, said Liu.
"China's market is so attractive not only because of its vast sales potential. More importantly, we can also see the future here," said Liu. Enditem
