SAIC Motor car production, sales up in October

BEIJING, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese automaker SAIC Motor Corporation Limited reported growth in production and sales in October.

The Shanghai-based company manufactured 602,958 cars last month, up 3.06 percent year on year. Its sales in October climbed 9.61 percent year on year to 596,719 units.

In the January-October period, SAIC Motor manufactured 4.14 million cars, down 16.04 percent year on year. Its sales during the same period went down 15.09 percent year on year to 4.2 million units.

Shares of the automaker gained 0.8 percent to close at 27.72 yuan (4.18 U.S. dollars) Friday. Enditem
