BEIJING, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's aluminum sector has registered steady rises in output and price, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
In the first nine months of the year, the output of aluminum rose 6.5 percent year on year to 40.16 million tonnes, while that of electrolytic aluminum gained 2.8 percent to 27.45 million tonnes, said the MIIT, citing data from China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
During the same period, alumina output totaled 54.25 million tonnes, down 1.9 percent from the same period of last year.
In the third quarter, the average spot price of aluminum per tonne was 14,634 yuan (about 2,207.57 U.S. dollars), up 12.3 percent from the previous quarter and 3.7 percent year on year.
Aluminum prices have fluctuated at high levels since July this year, surpassing the pre-epidemic level, according to the association. Enditem
