BEIJING, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- North China's Hebei Province saw its electronic information industry maintain a steady growth during the first eight months of the year due to a significant increase in domestic demand, Hebei Daily citing the Industry and Information Technology Department of Hebei Province reported on Friday.
The main business revenues in the electronic information industry in Hebei amounted to 104.83 billion yuan from January to August, up 6 percent year on year and 1.6 percentage points higher than that registered in the first seven months of the year.
From January to August, a total of 666 enterprises were included in the statistical list of local authority, marking a year-on-year increase of 47, with employees increasing 2,638 on year to 177,000.
The enterprises generated 2 billion U.S. dollars worth of foreign exchange through export from January to August, up 5.8 percent year on year. They made a total investment of 5.27 billion yuan in fixed-assets, up 11.8 percent year on year.
The photovoltaic industry continues to maintain a rapid growth. Driven by the domestic and foreign markets, the industry achieved 14.65 billion yuan in main business revenues during the first eight months, registering a year-on-year increase of 19 percent, with the foreign exchanges earned through export up 10.7 percent on year to 550 million U.S. dollars.
The electronics industry grew steadily with improving benefits. From January to August, the province's electronics industry achieved 33.7 billion yuan worth of main business revenues, posting a year-on-year increase of 5.3 percent.
Embedded system software sustained a rapid growth from January to August, with its main business revenues expanding 75.3 percent on year to 1.97 billion yuan.
During the period, the main business revenues in the information technology service industry dropped 8.9 percent on year to 15.58 billion yuan, with the declining rate gradually narrowed. (Edited by Zhang Yuan with Xinhua Silk Road, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
