BEIJING, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- China's courier sector recorded strong growth during the eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, according to the statistics released by the State Postal Bureau (SPB) on Friday.
As consumption has resumed online and offline, a total of 1.82 billion parcels were collected from October 1 to October 8, up 53.42 percent year on year, while 1.8 billion parcels were delivered, up 62.51 percent year on year, the bureau said.
Thanks to the effective epidemic prevention and control measures, the online sales of food, daily necessities and 3C products have surged during the holiday, driving up the demand for courier services.
Besides, the online sales of local farm produce and specialties have maintained a robust growth during the holiday as the courier sector provided rural populations with wider service accessibility.
Due to the COVID-19, the courier sector saw dampened business in January but resumed growth in February. Since February, the sector has seen continuous growth, with an average growth rate of more than 30 percent.
